I’ve made it no secret that I love an outdoor wedding, but an outdoor wedding at home in the family garden is about the very best. Especially if that garden is the pride and joy of one of the couples’ parents. A wedding really does provide a reason for them to go that extra mile, indulge their passion and use all the fruits of their labour to decorate a marquee, create a beautiful home-grown bouquet and of course a backdrop for a ceremony.

This is going to sound very cliché I know but I felt that I really was on a journey with Katie and Jooles. And a very wonderful one it was too. All weddings are special but there was something about Katie and Jooles. Right from the get-go when I met them on a Facetime call, I just knew that this was going to be a very special occasion. We all got along famously but what I particularly loved was how important to them the actual ceremonial part of their day was.
I’ve been meeting a lot of new couples in the last few weeks which is sooooooooooo exciting. My diary for next year and even 2021 is filling up nicely. My website seems to be doing its job. In the main my new clients have had a proper look and the FAQ section does seem to have answered most of their queries about the process of a celebrant led ceremony. But I thought it might be helpful for prospective clients to have a blog that provides a bit of insight about me as a person. So here goes.
Over the past few years I have met and worked alongside many wedding photographers. Extraordinarily in all the weddings I have done I’m yet to bump into the same photographer twice. I take my hat off to them. It is a deeply competitive business. Not only are there many of them but they also work incredibly hard.
At the beginning of May this year I presented a ceremony for Nikki and Steve. The venue was a marquee in the field on the family farm of Rose, Nikki’s childhood and bestest friend. This farm was a place where she always felt welcome. A home from home. Rose has played and continues to play a huge part in Nikki’s life, and we included a short paragraph in the script celebrating their special friendship.
I love travelling about the countryside and will go literally anywhere if I’m asked to! However there are certain very obvious advantages for a local wedding.
When I met with Abbie and Luke to discuss the detail of their script it became very apparent that they both had an incredible bond with their mothers. Rarely are there occasions when one can publicly express one’s love and thanks to a parent, but a celebrant ceremony provides just that opportunity.
When I tell people what I do for a living. Nine times out of ten they are intrigued. The conversation follows a very similar pattern. We go through what a celebrant is. And then almost without fail I’m asked, ‘what do you wear’? My staple answer is a nice dress and to make sure I never upstage the bride or groom’s mother!
