Simply put there’s a lot to love about Dorset and I’m thrilled that over the years my work as a wedding celebrant has been taking me over the border from Devon.
Nobody better describes the county better than it’s famed local author Thomas Hardy. His prose described ‘his partly real, partly dream country” of Wessex (Dorset to you and me) so evocatively and his novels were frequently combined with a healthy dose of often, ill fated, romance.
Dorset is renown for its stunning Jurassic coastline, breathtaking countryside, rude chalk figures, iron age hill forts as well as being peppered with quaint and traditional villages.
It’s no wonder that Dorset is a popular wedding destination. It is brimming with the most beautiful venues from fairy tale castles to elegant manor houses. These venues are supported by wedding suppliers that are right at the top of their game in their areas of expertise.
I am highlighting a few of those Dorset wedding venues and supplier. I am delighted to be the recommended celebrant at Mapperton House, Marshwood Manor and the Symondsbury Estate all of which are featured below.
Dorset wedding venue beautiful Mapperton House
The undiscovered, exclusive and wildly romantic gardens are the perfect backdrop for your wedding. With a garden pavilion, living orangery and garden grottos as just a few options for an outdoor ceremony, the venue also provides flexibility for couples who are looking for something a little less traditional.
Our wedding team strive to make your day special and unique. With exclusive hire and vast grounds, pretty much anything goes. And that’s why some of our couples opt for celebrant led ceremonies. Our wedding couples love the freedom of being able to choose the content of the ceremony and their vows, telling their own story and reflecting their style and relationship as a couple.
We’ve been very privileged to be part of so many special days. Having a celebrant led ceremony has meant our couples are able to tailor-make a day to reflect their beliefs, spirituality, mixed faiths and cultures, capturing those important aspects for each party and their families.
Working closely with suppliers from our local area, our team are with you every step of the way to help you create your wedding at our brilliantly ‘blank canvas’ Dorset venue. Contact email@example.com to book a virtual or in person meeting or show round with one of our friendly weddings team.
Dorset florist Martha and the Meadow
I set up Martha and the Meadow in 2016, because I loved setting the scene with flowers. This desire led me into weddings where quickly the business grew to covering weddings across the whole of Dorset and surrounding counties.
I work from my garden studio here in the heart of Dorset overlooking Hambledon Hill my two working cocker spaniels Martha and Angus are always poddling around looking for attention. And yes.. my company is named after my dog!!
I offer beautiful and unexpected combinations of flowers all with an untamed and wild feeling with them. My style in simple terms is unapologetically romantic.
My design work is filled with seasonal blooms always looking to use as much British flower as possible and will lean to garden roses, oodles of sweet peas and trailing jasmine I honestly think you can’t have enough romance on your wedding day.
My team and I take on weddings from small and intimate to the larger affairs led by planners. Whatever the scale it’s a very personal and dedicated affair, working with clients on how to achieve the perfect flowers for their day. I’m grateful to have a wonderful relationship with many flower growers across Dorset.
I work in an array of locations and venues from private marquee weddings through to venues like 10 Castle Street, St Giles and Came House – to more rustic affairs from coastal hill tops to rustic barns. For more information please do have a look at my website
Marshwood Manor – an exceptional Dorset venue
The Vale of Marshwood, with its ancient woodland and small fields has changed little since the Iron Age. It is mysterious, wild, magical and sealed in a pocket of a bygone age.
In its centre, stands Marshwood Manor -the perfect venue for couples looking for something unique in an idyllic setting. From the moment guests drive through the gates and down the sweeping drive, they will have total privacy.
Marshwood is dedicated to delivering the very best experience and service. It offers luxury exclusive use accommodation, in an unspoiled location combining Victorian grandeur with rustic simplicity. The woodland bower is unparalleled in the south west for natural beauty and mystical enchantment.
Marshwood takes pride in its relaxed, individual style where no two weddings are the same.
With this in mind they have had more requests from their couples for celebrants whereby they can have an extra celebration which can be tailored in a personal, bespoke and unique manner, in addition to the fixed format of a registration service.
Marshwood’s view is why have one celebration when you can have two? If you’d like more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Dorset wedding planner and stylist Rosie Barrett
My 14 year career as an assistant director in film and tv means that to me every event is a production and is built around the script of my client’s lives. I hand pick influences from client’s personal story and immerse myself in creating the complete picture.
I love the relationship that develops and this connection is essential to blend my professional expertise with the couple’s unique style and personalities. Getting to know the people that I work with is a highlight and for me, all the best events start from a point of connection whether it’s the clients themselves or the wonderful collective of Dorset supplier I work with.
This close collaboration of working with couples is so similar to that of a wedding celebrant. Every couple’s story is unique and the content of wedding ceremonies should be personalised to reflect that.
Whether it’s a micro wedding, elopement or a no-holds-barred blow out I collaborate closely with my clients every step of the way From budgets to bands, food to flowers, dresses to decorations. No stone is left unturned to ensure that every aspect of the celebration is perfect.
I offer many differing levels of service from full planning to a styling and design consultation and all can to be tailored to your exact needs. I’d love to learn a bit about you and your wedding. If you’d like more information just click the link here https://www.rosiebarrett.co.uk/
Dorset tipi and sailcloth tent provider – Coastal Tents
We are the South West’s leading provider of Sailcloth Tents and Tipis for weddings and events. Coastal Tents have been in business for 6 years providing our wedding clients with a bespoke and personal service ensuring that all our clients have a fantastic day. Our tents are often used in some stunning locations; by the coast, overlooking beautiful countryside and in manicured gardens. Often these locations are chosen as the couple really want to get married in a location that is personal to them.
When a couple chooses a unique setting their ceremony will often be led by a celebrant and we think that they really help couples vocalise how they are feeling about their chosen location and the importance of this over, for example, a religious ceremony to them personally.
We really love creating outdoor ceremony areas for clients too with our sturdy timber benches and chairs along with matted aisles and even the occasional Tipi for a rainy day covering. A celebrant can help bring together this important part of their wedding, setting the scene for a fantastic day. Having a marquee and a celebrant gives you complete freedom to have your wedding, your way, with your choice of suppliers.
Tithe Barn, Symondsbury Estate
Overlooking Symondsbury Estate and beyond, the Tithe Barn is a truly wonderful place to celebrate your wedding. The beautifully restored 14th century Tithe Barn, with its spacious heated flooring, staffed bar, gallery area and exposed beams has natural light pouring into through large windows.
The team at the Tithe Barn believe that every wedding is unique and offer the flexibility for couples to dress the barn entirely to their taste reflecting their personality.
A celebrant led ceremony is all about personalisation and flexibility. There are some amazing spaces in the gardens which are not licensed for weddings but could be available if officiated by a wedding celebrant. Meaning that not only would the content of your ceremony be unique but also the location.
So whether you are planning an intimate gathering or something more lavish, the Tithe Barn’s flexible style can be adapted to suit. Use this link to our website to find out more. https://symondsburyestate.co.uk/venue/the-tithe-barn/
My thanks to all these wonderful contributors and I look forward to working with you all soon.
