Fanfare Favourites – August

outdoor wedding ceremony the ultimate step by step guide

We all know the weather plays a huge part in any wedding day especially if you are planning an outdoor ceremony – no-one really wants to resort to Plan B.    This year there have been some gooduns and some baduns – weather wise that is.  So, as summer draws to a close and autumn is beckoning, and as a part of our new regular Fanfare Favourites blog, I thought I’d focus on some sunny elements.

First up is a great song by Alton Ellis ‘You make me so very happy’ which Jed and Lauren back in August this year used as their recessional song.  For me it’s very cool, uplifting, celebratory, joyous and SUNNY.

One of the sunniest weddings I have ever led was Tom and Kirsty’s last year at The Barn at Baron’s Hill Farm.  Indeed, I even chose a bright yellow dress that day (on looking at these images though not the most flattering though on reflection!).  Barons Hill is a hidden gem deep in the South Devon countryside.  I have been lucky enough to conduct several weddings here and hope to be back next year.  It’s a wonderfully flexible venue and ideal for those wanting a relaxed and rustic environment.  I featured another fantastic barn venue last month, The Barn at South Milton – check back on my favourites for more info.

working with a wedding celebrant. Is it good value for money?

Continuing the sunny theme, I absolutely love the giant flowers supplied by The Prop Factory who are based in Exeter.  Be it a giant gerbera, sunflower or daisy these frivolous oversized blooms can’t fail to bring a smile to your guests’ faces even on a blummin Plan B day!

And to finish an Irish Blessing; ones of my favourites and a joyous finale to any ceremony…

Like the gold of the sun
Like the light of the day
May the luck of the Irish shine
Bright on your way
Like the glow of a star
And the lilt of a song
May these be your joys
All your lives long.

Until next time,

Love Fan x
