Kate & Rich‘s Autumn Wedding at Baron’s Hill Barn

what makes a great celebrant

I was back at The Barn at Barons Hill for Rich and Kate’s wedding last October.  Another couple who really appreciated the rustic charm of this venue.  This was my fourth visit but the first ceremony actually in the barn.  The couple are huge winter sports enthusiasts and the barn was themed accordingly.  Kate’s very talented cake-decorating Mum had made a sensational alpine cake.

Rich’s proposal to Kate definitely has been one of the best I have encountered so far.  With their shared love of the great outdoors, wildlife and nature – Dartmoor was an obvious location.  After much organisation and a little help from family he managed to get Kate in the right place at the right time for her ring to be delivered to her by a Harris Hawk no less.   An amazing proposal and so romantic.  All the more so as Rich is normally not one for grand gestures.

The wedding was happiness itself.  Rich’s groomsmen were lifelong friends.  He didn’t have a best man.  He just couldn’t decide who to have so had them all there as groomsmen.   Kate wore the most beautiful dress accessorised with grey converses and red laces.  Her bridesmaids, a lovely mix of family and friends also wore grey converses but with white laces.  A great idea and no need for a change of shoes for the dancing later!
