Secret Vows For A Truly Heartfelt Wedding At Barons Hill Farm

No registrars available how a celebrant can help post corona

On a dreary January day there is nothing better to lift the spirits than casting my mind back to a wonderful warm (boiling in fact) summer day last July.  I was back at Barons Hill Farm to conduct a ceremony, this time for the delightful Kirsty and Tom.

I know I’m always waxing lyrical on how much I love the couples I meet in this job and what fun we all have together, but I particularly enjoyed working with Kirsty and Tom.  This fun-loving popular couple are opposites in so many ways sharing very few interests but equally a match made in heaven.  They really do have a laugh, enjoy relentless banter and mickey taking but are also totally devoted to, and supportive of, one another.

They elected to have a small but special bridal party.  Kirsty chose not to have bridesmaids as she had so many friends, she just didn’t know how to whittle it down so had two flower girls and a page boy and of course their beloved chocolate Labrador, Daisy was also in attendance.  Tom was supported by his best man, Adam with whom he has messed about with since childhood and still does.

They wrote their own vows which they kept secret from one another until the day.  Tom’s were heartfelt and lengthy with his personality and humour stamped all over it.   I still recall Kirsty’s face after listening to Tom’s words.  She was so touched.  It was a hard act to follow.  But an act that Kirsty matched perfectly, and which reduced everyone to tears, as well as Tom who had been convinced he would cry throughout the entire ceremony.

I included a quote from Dr Seuss in the ceremony “We’re all a little weird, and life’s a little weird.  And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love”.    The word ‘weird’ is used very loosely these days but the urban dictionary’s definition fits Kirsty and Tom perfectly “someone who isn’t afraid to be themselves.  A person who likes to be humorous and make people laugh.  People who like to have a good time.  Sometimes weird people are the BEST kind of people”.
