Stranger Things – Who Will Conduct Your Ceremony?

I think it’s fair to say that your wedding day is high up on the momentous life events list.  It therefore completely baffles me that most couples, who choose a civil ceremony, are happy for this huge occasion to be officiated by a total stranger.

Or perhaps they are just not being given all the options.

One of the many advantages of a celebrant wedding is that you can choose who presents your ceremony.  You are not just allocated the duty Registrar.   Choosing the right person is a very personal decision.  They need to have the right personality and the right presence in order to bring your ceremony to life.   You need to ‘get’ one another, indeed, like one another.  This is essential as the crafting of your ceremony script is very much a collaboration and by working as a team the tone of the ceremony will truly reflect your personalities and relationship.

On the day when the nerves are rattling and the anticipation and excitement is palpable, the celebrant is a reassuring presence for one of the most intimate, nerve-wracking and exciting moments of one’s life.  I have been told by all my couples that the very fact that they know me really helps to relax them prior to and during the entire proceedings.

So, don’t rush into the decision and default to a Registrar, ask your chosen venue for all the options available to you and weigh up all the pros and cons.
